I was stoked to get out to Joy Creek Nursery this past weekend - it is maybe one of my favorite places in the world. We made a new bed in the back yard, and I needed both garden and illustration inspiration. This fabulous little lady is Hibiscus 'Miss Julene'. I've never been that into hibiscus until I saw them in Croatia. This one makes me swoon - check out those variegated leaves! On another note, I think it's fair to say variegated plants are cool again.
All this hot weather has me thinking more and more about tropicals and shade gardening. I've been so focused on sunny, heat loving things, but these are so dreamy!
Their anemones are MAGICAL. I moved mine into the shade - just couldn't keep up with watering them as much as they demanded this year.
I love love love hydrangeas - they are so adaptable! The greenish one was a highlight. Such strange ruffly green blooms.
