Besaw's

Custom Wallcovering

When Portland institution Besaw's suddenly lost the lease on their location of 111 years, owner Cana Flug saw an opportunity to evolve the brand, expand Besaw's service and offer an unparalleled Portland dining experience, while continuing to serve the loyal NW Portland community who had made Besaw's a destination spot for visitors from all over the world.

In designing the new space, it was important to our team to include touches of the old Besaw's: warmth, intimacy, fun and connection to the past, which proved challenging in a brand new building with 20 foot ceilings and concrete floors.

In her time at the historic NW 23rd location, Cana had gradually cleaned up, tilled and planted the adjacent vacant lot with vegetables and flowers, providing the neighborhood a little slice of farm-to-table life, and a modest harvest proudly featured on the menu.

The Besaw's wallpaper was my homage to our former home, marrying the Art-Deco inspired details of the new location with the warmth and charm of Besaw's past.
